Service Description

SFS is a component supply, structural, stud façade system which is extremely versatile and can be used to provide solutions to many different types of building construction, from external wall infill panels to internal high bay separating walls and continuous super structure solutions. SFS has risen in demand over the last few years as it is a fast, economic, accurate and high quality method of construction. Advantages: - Some well-known advantages of SFS are speed, light weight and high quality which lead to supplementary advantages, such as early completion, fewer snags, and minimal rework. However there are also many other advantages, including: - High levels of thermal installation and air-tightness. - The light-weight attribute of these construction systems means that foundation loads and sizes are significantly reduced relative to concrete and masonry construction. - Productivity and speed of construction is increased considerably which reduces site impacts. - Embodied carbon in the building fabric will also be reduced when using light steel framing and modular construction. - Light steel structures can be modified and extended easily. Modular units can be dis-assembled and re-used. Disadvantages: - Maintenance cost of a steel structure is very high. Due to action of rust in steel, expensive paints are required from time to time to maintain resistance against severe conditions. - Steel has a low resistance to fire compared to concrete. From 600-700C the strength of steel is reduced by half. - Steel cannot be moulded in any direction you want. It can only be used in forms in which sections originally exist. - If steel loses its ductility property, then the probability of brittle fractures increases. - If there are very large variations in tensile strength than this can lead to more tension.
